Mr Chaavure joined the Deposit Protection Corporation (DPC) on 1 September 2023. He is an experienced Finance practitioner with more than 20 years of experience in Strategic Management, Banking, Finance and Accounting. Alfred holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (Honours) Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant. He is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA, CGMA) and a member of the Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute in Zimbabwe (formerly Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators). He also attended the Senior Executive Program at Harvard Business School in 2018.
Prior to this new role at DPC, Alfred held strategic roles as Chief Finance Officer at CABS, Steward Bank and National Building Society (NBS) where he also served as Acting Managing Director.
