Deposit Protection Corporation Chief Executive, Mr. Hopewell Zinyau, Elected Vice-Chairman of the International Association of Deposit Insurers, Africa Regional Committee (IADI-ARC).
HARARE – The Deposit Protection Corporation (DPC) is pleased to announce the recent election of its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hopewell Zinyau, as the Vice-Chairman of the International Association of Deposit Insurers – Africa Regional Committee (IADI-ARC).
This prestigious appointment is a significant milestone that underscores Zimbabwe’s growing influence in regional and global financial safety-net matters. It is also a recognition of Mr. Zinyau’s leadership, expertise, and commitment to advancing the objectives of deposit protection across the African continent.
The Africa Regional Committee (ARC) serves as a key platform for deposit insurers across the continent to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaboration, and enhance deposit insurance systems. The Committee facilitates training, research, and the development of guidance that supports financial sector stability. ARC is one of the eight regional committees of IADI, alongside Europe, Eurasia, Caribbean, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, North America, and the Middle East & North Africa.
The International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) was established in May 2002 with a mission to contribute to the stability of financial systems worldwide by promoting effective deposit insurance practices and fostering international cooperation. IADI has grown into a recognized global standard setter, working closely with organizations such as the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), the World Bank (WB), and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Headquartered at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Basel, Switzerland, IADI currently represents more than 100 deposit insurers globally.
The DPC congratulates Mr. Zinyau on this achievement, which not only highlights his personal accomplishments but also enhances Zimbabwe’s profile in the international financial community.
