DPC Board and Senior Management Attend Chitepo School of Ideology Workshop to Strengthen Institutional Values

The Deposit Protection Corporation (DPC) strengthened institutional capacity through a workshop held from 23–27 February 2026 at Newlands Country Club in Harare, in partnership with the Chitepo School of Ideology. The workshop sought to align DPC’s operations with national priorities while deepening participants’ appreciation of Zimbabwe’s historical, cultural, and developmental context. The initiative also reinforced the Corporation’s role in supporting National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), Vision 2030, and safeguarding financial sector stability.

The workshop was attended by DPC Board members, Executive Directors, and members of the Management team.

The training examined how DPC’s mission aligns with NDS2 and Vision 2030, with particular focus on strengthening institutional capacity, promoting financial sector stability, building public trust, and upholding sound governance. Participants also explored Zimbabwe’s heritage and national identity, echoing the message by His Excellency, Dr. E.D. MnangagwaPresident of the Republic of Zimbabwe, on the importance of understanding one’s history and culture as a foundation for unity, patriotism and national development.

Sessions examined national ideology, patriotism, leadership, and the impact of ideology on institutional culture. Participants reviewed Zimbabwe’s historical journey, including pre-colonial society, the liberation struggle, and state development, highlighting the relevance of history in shaping policy and governance today.

Contemporary geopolitical trends, Africa’s shifting global role, and related opportunities and challenges encouraged a strategic outlook. The workshop addressed the media’s influence on public opinion, the importance of responsible communication, and the need to project Zimbabwe’s image internationally. Discussions on international relations covered foreign policy, sovereignty, partnerships, and diplomacy’s role in economic growth.

The program concluded with certificates being awarded to all DPC attendees. The Principal of the Chitepo School of Ideology, Cde I. Mada, praised participants’ commitment and stressed that understanding national ideology empowers institutions and individuals to contribute to national progress. Through this workshop, DPC reaffirmed its commitment to institutional culture, leadership development, and supporting Zimbabwe’s growth and financial security.
