The Deposit Protection Corporation (DPC) had the privilege of participating at the Career Day event hosted by Concepts Learning Academy on 29 May 2026 in Bulawayo, where learners were introduced to the Corporation’s mandate, its role within Zimbabwe’s financial system, and the diverse career opportunities available within the organisation.
The informative session was facilitated by Ms. Mongi Manyoba, who engaged learners in a discussion about the importance of deposit protection and the critical role DPC plays in promoting confidence, stability, and trust in the banking sector. Through practical examples and interactive discussions, students gained valuable insights into how financial institutions work together to safeguard depositors and contribute to a resilient financial system.
Beyond highlighting DPC’s core functions, the presentation provided learners with a broader understanding of the wide range of professions that support the Corporation’s operations. Students were introduced to career paths in areas such as finance, accounting, risk management, law, information technology, public relations, human resources, administration, and corporate governance. This exposure helped learners appreciate the multidisciplinary nature of the organisation and the various skills and qualifications required to build a successful career in the financial sector.
A key focus of the session was encouraging learners to begin thinking strategically about their educational and professional journeys. Students were urged to cultivate essential skills such as critical thinking, integrity, adaptability, communication, and problem-solving—qualities that are increasingly important in today’s dynamic workplace. The discussion also emphasized the value of continuous learning and professional development in achieving long-term career success.
The interaction created an opportunity for learners to ask questions about career progression, workplace experiences, and the qualifications needed to pursue opportunities in the financial services industry. Their enthusiasm and curiosity reflected a growing interest in careers that contribute to economic development and financial stability.
DPC’s participation in the Career Day initiative forms part of its broader commitment to stakeholder engagement and financial literacy awareness. By engaging with young people and sharing knowledge about the financial sector, the Corporation seeks to inspire the next generation of professionals who will contribute to the growth, resilience, and sustainability of Zimbabwe’s financial system.
The Corporation extends its appreciation to Concepts Learning Academy for providing a platform to engage with learners and looks forward to supporting similar initiatives that empower young people with knowledge, career guidance, and inspiration for the future.
