The Deposit Protection Corporation (DPC), in collaboration with the Parliament of Zimbabwe, will conduct nationwide public consultations on the Deposit Protection Corporation (Amendment) Bill from 20 to 24 July 2026. The consultations aim to gather views from stakeholders and members of the public to strengthen Zimbabwe’s deposit protection framework and ensure that the proposed amendments reflect citizens’ needs and expectations.
Public participation is an essential part of the legislative process, as it allows individuals, businesses, financial institutions, and other interested parties to contribute to the development of laws that promote financial stability and protect depositors. Through these consultations, DPC seeks to engage directly with Zimbabweans, answer questions about the proposed Bill, and receive valuable feedback that will help shape a more effective and inclusive deposit protection system.
The consultations will be held in five cities across the country. The programme begins on 20 July 2026 at Gweru Theatre Hall, followed by Stanley Hall in Bulawayo on 21 July, Civic Centre in Masvingo on 22 July, Mutare Hall on 23 July, and concludes on 24 July 2026 at the Ambassador Hotel in Harare. Sessions in Gweru, Bulawayo, Masvingo, and Mutare will run from 1000 to 1200 hours, while the Harare meeting will take place from 0900 to 1100 hours.
DPC encourages all stakeholders and members of the public to attend these free consultations and actively participate in discussions on the proposed amendments. By sharing their views and recommendations, participants will contribute to the development of legislation that enhances depositor protection, strengthens confidence in Zimbabwe’s financial sector, and supports a resilient banking system.
